(Actually Enjoying) Party Time!
Overwhelmed by the thought of throwing your child’s birthday party?
You don’t need to be!
Try to keep it simple. Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in the details. It’s a kid’s party, after all!
Stick to the basics: An activity to keep the kids entertained (Check), food and cake (Check/ Check), a few creative DIY decorations (Check), and lastly, I always find that it’s a win when you provide the parents with a little alcohol. I mean, they have to listen to 30 screaming kids for two hours…it’s the least you can do!
Are you saying to yourself, “I’m way too busy to organize a party”? I mean, come on. “I commute, I work full time, I take care of the kids, meals, and the house.”
It’s all about the outsourcing!
Invitations? I’m obsessed with Paperless Post https://www.paperlesspost.com/ . Quickly and easily send out and update information to all of your family and friends.
Décor help? Etsy is your best friend https://www.etsy.com/
Also, I highly recommend finding yourself a good balloon guy. I suggest, http://www.balloonsbytommy.com/ . A few little special touches can go a long way!
Help with treats? Try booking an ice cream truck. This will take the hassle out of ordering and serving the day-of.
Setup/clean up? Spend the $100 and hire a cleaning service to help you.
Outdoor party? Set a rain date in advance. This way you don’t need to worry about reaching out to everyone the night before if the weather looks iffy.
Remember, your child’s birthday is just as much about celebrating your accomplishments as a mother as it is about them turning another year older! Working moms balance so much, why not allow yourself to enjoy a true celebration? You deserve it!
