My earliest life memories include arm parties up to my elbows, a watermelon string bikini that this chubby baby bod rocked like nobody’s business, and a serious love of anything bright and sparkly. I was playing dress up in my mom’s closet from a VERY young age and my grandma’s closet was my favorite room…like EVER. The extensive collection of fur coats, the sunglasses, the handbags, the heels…I was in absolute awe of it all.
And now, thirty years later, I have my own three-and-a-half-year-old daughter (who is practically going on sixteen) doing the exact same. She literally starts each day with “Mommy, what am I going to wear today?!”, she makes SEVERAL wardrobe changes throughout the day, and she is VERY opinionated about what she wears: the girlier, the better. I wonder where she gets it?
Being a mommy is obviously my number one job, but being able to use my babes as my muses makes my career as a designer so magical. In a world where self-confidence is key, I love that I can make pieces for kids to match their most important role models: their mamas.
