I have one daughter, Blake Everly. She turned one in September!
I work full time as the CEO and Co-Founder of a technology startup called Sawyer. We are building an amazing marketplace for parents to discover and book classes for their children. We are live in Chicago, NYC & LA.
BIGGEST CHALLENGES AS A WORKING MOM:
As a working mom I am constantly running between my two worlds. I definitely “give it my all” as best I can, when I’m at work I feel like I’m 100% on and then when home with my daughter I feel the same. So, it can be hard to find any down time or time to just sit and think.
TIME SAVING TIP FOR WORKING MOMS:
Pretty much all things Amazon as it makes it easy to get things directly sent to our home vs. ever needing to go to the store. I love Amazon Fresh! I can order what we need online and they delivery groceries right to my home. A total life saver!
Recently I changed my routine so that I try to invite friends over for dinner. Once I put my daughter to bed I also hang out with friends. It is challenging to go out to dinner these days so the best friends are the ones willing to come to us and we can spend time with them once our daughter is in bed!
How do you deal with the working mom guilt?
I remember that I want my daughter to be able to be comfortable with lots of people, not just me. I know that will make her a happy well-adjusted person and so I remind myself of that when I leave for work. I also love what I do and I know that I’m a happier person when I’m working as well as spending time with her. A happier mom will be a better mom.
CAN YOU HAVE IT ALL?
Maybe. I think having a team to support you be it a partner, a caregiver, friends, and family are critical to making this all work. I also have great co-founders at work so I feel like it really does take a village.
